A newly created safari which journey's from Livingstone to Lusaka across the little visited and wonderfully wild southern Kafue. roughly folowing the course of the Kafue River, away from its banks there is a wide variety of woodlands as well as open grasslands. These host a diverse array of wildlife species including over 150 different mammals along with an amazing 470 species of bird.The safari will visit the Nanzhilla plains, explore the riverine woodland along the Kafue and stays on the shores of lake Itezi Tezi. Throughout staying in small privately owned safari camps each run with a passion for the Kafue and it's varied wildlife.
Nanzhila Plains Camp (3 nights) is an intimate lodge located in the remote southern sector of Kafue National Park. The area is best known for its lush woodlands, the beautiful plains and the Nanzhila stream that runs through it. It offers excellent opportunities for game viewing and birding, including regular sightings of all the major carnivore species, particularly Wild Dog and Cheetah, antelope such as Sable and Roan, and close to 500 species of birds, including the endemic Blackcheeked Lovebird.
The lodge accommodates 12 guests in 4 well appointed and spacious thatched en-suite cottages and 2 meru en-suite tents, which blend perfectly into the undergrowth. The Boma is located close by on an elevated deck in the shade of a huge Jackelberry Tree (African Ebony). Spacious and tastefully decorated, and overlooking a large dambo, it’s the ideal place from which to explore this fascinating area.
Konkamoya (2 nights) Konkamoya is a family run safari lodge situated on the banks of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi in the southern regions of the unspoilt Kafue National Park. Rustic, but charming, the lodge is all about embracing nature and the location ensures a stunning safari adventure. Game viewing is done in an open vehicle, by foot or by boat. Fly Camping is the most exciting way to see the bush, and life doesn’t get better than fishing at Konkamoya, or how about an exciting canoe safari?
Konkamoya consists of just three chalets, sleeping six people and thus ensuring a very personal experience.
Kaingu Safari Lodge (3 nights) is an owner run lodge situated on one of Africa’s great rivers, the Kafue, some 200 kilometres upstream from its confluence with the mighty Zambezi River. Set in an area of pristine wilderness, KaingU Lodge offers a magnificent safari experience in the heart of the African bush. Walking safaris, river cruises and bird watching, are always special on a river like the Kafue. Camp has four luxuriously appointed East African safari tents set under thatch and placed on raised rosewood platforms overlook the river. With en-suite bathrooms and a unique outdoor shower. The thatched central boma with lounge, bar and dining room has a large deck with fireplace overlooking the river.
