Shumba camp sits on a fig tree island far away from everything on the shimmering Busanga Plains. A wonderfully romantic tented safari camp perfect for Honeymoons or special occasions or simply for that extra special luxury safari treat , in which to enjoy a week of pampered opulence in luxurious and very private surroundings. We will transfer you to and from camp by light aircraft and a scenic helicopter flight.
The views across the Busanga are amazing with game alwasy in view and Lions have been known to spend time actually in camp!
This is safari chic at its best and you can be assured of exceptional personal attention and excellent international standard meals, complimented with fine wines and spirits.

Shumba Camp comprises six spacious luxury safari tents on raised platforms with spectacular views of the surrounding plains. The rooms are large, en-suite with both indoor and outdoor showers. The dining and bar area is elevated so as to take in this vista and each morning's sunrise . A maximum of 12 guests can be accommodated at any one time and great emphasis has been placed on the "guided" experience - being led by qualified, enthusiastic people with in-depth knowledge of the area and its wildlife. Guests have the option of game drives in and around the Plains and night drives provide the added excitement of the nocturnal wonders of the area.

This camp is perfectly situated to take advantage of the plains game and predator concentrations of the Busanga Plains, being situated as it is within close proximity to permanent water and having easy access to a mix of seasonal and permanent floodplains. Shumba is named after a favourite species in the area - prides of lion sometimes up to 20 strong! Viewing of species like puku, lechwe and hippo is possible for much of the day from the comfort of your tent or the main deck, while the camp's fig trees ensure both shade and constant bird activity in the canopy above.

Day 1

On arrival at Lusaka you will be met by a representative and transferred to a light aircraft for the flight to the Kafue National park, on arrival at Lunga airstrip you will transfer to a helicopter for a low level flight across the National Park to Shumba Camp where you are settled into a fabulous luxury tented room. You can enjoy a game drive in the afternoon to watch the sunset in the company of beautiful wildlife, returning to camp to freshen up before a first class dinner and a relaxing evening.

Days 2 to 5

Days on the Busanga plains are spent at a pace of your choosing. Typically rising early to gain the best wildlife sightings at time of most activity, returning in the hotter parts of the day to spend time gazing out over the plains whilst relaxing in your pool with a cool drink or in the shade with a good book, during the late afternoon gamedrives are arranged to find the Lions which this area is known for and with luck you may even witness them hunt, additionally there are many more nocturnal creatures to add an even greater amount of interest than you could expect.

Day 6

You will be transferred by helicopter from the plains to Lunga airstrip and from here flown either to Lusaka where you end your safari, or we can connect you onwards to another destination of your choice.

Notes:

We can arrange extensions to your safari to: the Victoria Falls to witness one of the seven wonders. The Lower Zambezi Valley to a Luxury lodge camp for a few days canoeing on the Zambezi or to The Luangwa Valley to experience a walking safari.
