Safaris in Botswana

Botswana is sometimes called the Jewel of Africa and not without some justification. The sheer diversity of habitats ranging from Desert to flooded Delta and with it a vast amount of wildlife make Botswana a simply wonderful safari destination. Botswana has a policy of allowing only small camps with limited visitors which can mean that costs are higher proportionately than some of its neighboring countries. The result is that there are very few other visitors and so the wilderness is often just yours to enjoy.

Botswana has several key areas which when combined make for a complete safari, the Kalahari desert eco system, the north of Botswana in particular the Linyanti and Savuti channels famed for its big Lion prides. The vast Moremi, regarded as one of Africa best wildlife areas. Chobe, home to amazingly high populations of Elephant and of course the sparkling Okavango delta.

Botswana is a year round wildlife destination but that does not mean that all the areas are at there best at the same time, for instance the comon advise is that the Delta is best visited when its full (during the dry season!) arguably the Kalahari in the green season, but with experience you can have a great safari at both even at the least expensive time of year. Of course weather patterns and wildlife rhythms are never predictable and can never be guaranteed at a specific time or in a specific area.

Below are several safari ideas that our clients have used and which include the key areas. With such a choice of great safari camps and in such contrasting areas this is a destination where we very often tailor safaris for our clients, usually around the time available, budget, key wildlife species or the type of safari experience they would prefer.
So if you would like us to help you put together a safari to Botswana with the minimum of fuss just drop us a line or call and we will be happy to help.
