Beautiful, Vibrant, Exciting, Dramatic, Remote.
Situated far too the West in Zambia, Liuwa is in the land of the Lozi people and home to some incredible wildlife yet it is a place little known even by the well travelled safari enthusiast.
A seasonal flood plain feed by waters that rise in Angola and make there way to the Zambezi leaving behind vast areas of lush grazing that are the focus of the second largest wildebeest migration on earth. Years of poaching had dramatically reduced the Lion population allowing Hyenas to flourish and become the Apex predator, but now
The Lions are back and with the Lion re introduction has come research and the discovery of previously unexpected numbers of Wild dogs amongst the plains game.
We at Busanga Safaris are one of the few (including the renowned guide Robin Pope) who understand and respect Liuwa as a destination for the wildlife enthusiast and adventurer and 2012 will see us begin to offer a limited number of land based mobile safaris taking small groups to Liuwa just as the rains begin to fill the sky s with great clouds and the planes are at there most beautiful.
Contact us know for information on our own mobile safaris or for more details or to book on the limited space available on the flying safaris to Lewa which Robin will be leading in 2012.

This is an extremely difficult area to access and few people have been to this isolated and rarely visited national park. The safaris which we offer are 4 or 5 nights in duration, and are lead by Robin Pope, the best-known and most highly respected guide in Zambia who will personally guide you throughout giving an insightful view of Liuwa and its ecology. This vast open plain lies west of the Zambezi River, on the Angolan Border. This is an extremely difficult area to access and few people have been to this isolated and rarely visited national park. The safaris which we offer are 4 or 5 nights in duration, starting with a charter from Lusaka of 2+ hours to Kalabo or Mongu depending on the season and are lead by Robin Pope. The plains are a haven for many bird species and a good population of various antelope species. Interestingly the greatest migration of Wildebeest after that found in the Serengeti, occurs here.
