Apologies for not having been in touch sooner – I have a long list of people I need to write to to say thanks for wedding/honeymoon stuff!

We got back from honeymoon last week having had an amazing 3 weeks away. Thank you so much for helping us to organise what was probably the best bit of the honeymoon and particularly for the Lewa recommendation. Everything went very smoothly and were met at each flight. We loved the Masai Mara (game viewing is so easy!) and Elephant Pepper Camp was so relaxing – we loved the eco-friendly approach, right down to the bucket showers (they always last far longer than you think they will do!). We were lucky enough to see the river crossings on two days (Talek River on the first – Wilderbeest and Zebra) and then the Mara itself following an impromptu visit (Wilderbeest). We loved the Mara, but for us Lewa was simply outstanding and exactly what we were looking for (great viewing but with no cars). I think I cried when we got on the flight at Lewa as I didn’t want to leave! We saw everything in Lewa (leopard and then several sightings of cheetah which is what I had really wanted to see….. and even had one get into our car!!!) and the Lewa Safari Camp was outstanding (the food was amazing). The projects that they have got going in the Lewa area are incredible and although we decided to skip village visits, the rangers took us out one morning with one of the dogs to show us how they track poachers. Amazing! I also managed to get Matt on a horse for the first time and had a lovely ride through a herd of giraffe. For 1st time safari-goers the Mara is brilliant as there are so many animals, but for those that are seasoned safari-goers Lewa was perfect as you get the same animals but with very few cars.

Thank you so much for everything and please let us know about the travel show in February as we would definitely like to go back and get some more recommendations.

Hi Tony

Back at home now unfortunately, all too quick to get back into routines and Zimbabwe seems now a long while ago. What a great job you have spending such a long time in the field!

The holiday was fantastic, totally different, just as we requested.

Doug was an excellent choice as guide, well done, very knowledgeable, great company and a streak of controlled danger as well, just the right mix!

The transfers between the different locations were seamless and all went smooth and according to plan, even though we had to buzz the airstrip at Kariba lake to clear the runway of marabou storks before we could land!
You say you heard about the Lion experience, well I must admit that when you hear stories of lions in the camp at night and looking into the tent you don't really think that really happens. But it did, and to look out of the mesh window of a canvas tent at 3 am and see a 4 year old male lion, looking back in at you only about 1 foot or so away certainly gets the heart pumping!!! Not an experience any of us will forget - except Babs who slept through it all. That followed by hearing lions roaring to each other from different sides of the camp and then an hour later the noise of a Buffalo being killed by the same lions and your guide running out of his tent with torch in hand shouting for us to follow - well magic! and still Babs slept. Spent the next morning watching them fill their bellies until being chased of by a large male lion - another close encounter!

On a quieter front at Manu pools we managed to crawl up close, not very elegantly, to some wild dogs and sit with them for a while, then the next day see a larger pack on 2 impala kills, which considering how difficult it is to just see wild dogs was fantastic!

The Rhino lodge was wonderful. the house boat on the first night a bit of a let down but we slept on top deck under the stars with load of noisy frogs as company so even that was memorable. At the camp we were visited by an elephant walking past the fire at night and eating branches straight in front of our chalet the next day. We then heard and saw our first lion proper roar and that's something else not to be forgotten.

All in all we all felt it was a magic and unforgettable holiday but all did come back feeling very tired, dusty and in need of a good rest - 5.30 each morning long walks, hot and dusty does take it out of you.
Well you did say you wanted feedback and I did try my best to keep it short but...............

Hope you are having a good season and we are already thinking about when and where we will be going next so will be in touch over the winter, funds permitting.

All the best from a wet, and grey English summers day!

Hi Tony,

Well we made it back home again, after indoctrinating yet another generation of the Brindley family into the "call of Africa".

Everything went well, we were met and expected everywhere we went.
Mara Intrepids is a great place to start for people new to safaris.  We were of course lucky to choose to go when the migration was there, consequently there were always plenty of animals about, and never that long spell of seeing nothing which meant that the girls always had something to look at and interest them.  We were straight out on our first drive and almost immediately saw Lion.  Because of the migration there were plenty of cats about, and for Derek and I we had the best sighting of leopard ever.  Cheetah with a cub, and male lions fighting over a female caused quite a stir.  We also managed to see a crossing plus the aftermath of all the bodies in the river being feasted on by the vultures and marabou storks.  Africa always shows us something new.  Intrepids camp is lovely, although much bigger than the type we prefer, but we stayed in beautiful tents, and the food and service from the staff was exceptional.  We did the balloon safari, which I think the adults enjoyed more than the children.  Obviously it was busy with vehicles, but it works both ways I suppose, our driver radios to his mates when we found something, and the mates radio back when they found something, and I suppose they were all quite good, and kept their distance when we waited for the wildebeast to cross when we knew that there was a lion pride in waiting.

All in all a good experience, and enjoyed by all.  We might now have a young wild life photographer in the making!!!!
Regards

Pam and Derek

Dear Tony,
Just to let you know that I had a fantastic trip to Zambia. I have been telling all my friends that they must go there. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Busanga Safaries. Thank you for organising everything. The logistics ran really smoothly, and the accommodation was brilliant. The sightings were fantastic (truely). I won't bore you with what I saw but I got some really good video footage. I especially enjoyed the Busanga Plains Camp where nothing was too much trouble yet the practical and logistical obstacles are immense. Tyrone was so welcoming and Ferrison was quite brilliant.
I was doubly grateful to have Linda as escort. She was really easy to get along with and I really enjoyed her company. She made sure I got the best out of the trip.
I have a few thoughts about pre-trip information which I will let you have when i get a moment. I will put something on Trip Advisor about Busanga Plains Camp once I can work out how to do it.

All the best
Glen

Hi Tony
A brief email to thank you for a most memorable time in Zambia; nearly everything was great – if only you could train the tsetse flies to bite something else!! I am still in awe of “Chilli” and his kitchen – what amazing meals he produced; and the rest of the staff - such friendly and helpful people.

Tony, wow what can i say?

You listened and got it spot on... what an adventure, an adventure of a life time... still finding it hard to adjust to normal life, i.e. electrics and the bloody phone... all 3 camps were as you said, very different from each other, but all still as interesting and friendly... still couldn't believe just how awesome it was and the best experience ever!... and yes we will be returning without a doubt.

Thanks a million and hope to speak soon.

Our visit to Tafika was a joy
We had the camp to ourselves for the first five nights and lived like kings
The guiding and game viewing were superb
It was bad luck John Coppinger had gone to Durban - but at least I was spared the decision about the microlight flight - and it's a great excuse to go back again another time.
I will keep an eye on your website for ideas for our next holiday
Many thanks for organising our trip.
Best wishes

" Back safe and sound after an amazing trip.
Nkwali was magic – probably the best weeks wildlife I have ever experienced anywhere in the world.  7 leopard sightings in 7 days, including a male and a female on a kill in a tree, 15 lion, buffalo, hippo, crocs etc etc. The staff were amazingly helpful, professional, the food and service superb, and we didn’t really want to leave.  The transfer flights were excellent and what a treat to be wafted through African airports and to have your own pilot.
Overall an excellent experience and one which I would recommend without hesitation to anyone who will listen (and they are probably fed up with listening already).  We look forward to planning our next trip – please keep in touch."

"A massive thanks to you and all at Busanga for the most incredible trip... I'm back but actually not back really, all the time it's flashbacks and looking at people in the street and thinking they know NOTHING. What have you done to me? The wildlife was amazing, the people wonderful. Shall contact you again with regard to going somewhere else when I get my head round being back here.Thank you again.."

Well Tony!

as you can tell we had the most wonderful time and we thank you so much for organizing it. Everything worked exactly to your planning, and the minor adjustments were easily made enroute. Cant wait to start looking into what we will be planning for next year.

Thank you once again, I will definitely recommend you to anyone else who is thinking of taking "the Africa Experience".

Hi Busanga,

The Luangwa was just great , just as you said it would be "lion, lion everywhere and 100% addictive."

This is just to say how much I enjoyed my Busanga safari to Zambia.
It was my Seventh African safari and it was equal to the best. The staff at camp were wonderfull and I got a few firsts , Pels fishing Owl -White backed night Heron, Penanet wingned nightjar. A memory remains of a female Ratel and young on a night drive.

Many thanks for organizing everything so well, it was much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Graham

From the Newman family - seasoned Kenyan adventurers!

What can we say - that holiday you sorted for us was absolutely fantastic. Even on the drive from the airstrip to Lewa camp we were amazed at the number and variety of animals we saw - and it only got better and better. By day 2 we had seen the big 5 and all CLOSE UP - very close. We didn't believe it would get any better but it did - it just kept getting better. The walk in the wilderness was fantastic 12 masai warriors and 24 camels all to look after just us. Tracking 3 or 4 lions. we didn't get to see them but had an absorbing 2 hour hike through a gorge following their footprints.

Il Ngwesi was beautiful and the staff were so friendly, even moving us on the second evening so we could sleep in the poster under the stars - very romantic. Watching a family group of 9 lions in the headlights of the jeep in the dark is a very moving experience. All in all a truly wonderful and unforgettable holiday/experience which was beyond our dreams, and which we cant wait to repeat.

Thank you!
