Offering simply great value and designed to avoid single supplements to keep costs down and create the very best value in the Kafue and possibly Zambia. Many clients who visit Mayukuyuku return again to enjoy this very small and personal camp. This safari has been put together by Pippa, the owner of Mayukuyuku, to meet the safari needs of visitors wishing for an excellent wildlife safari experience, which also combines ethical principles of employing people in surrounding areas of the Kafue National Park and also caring for the environment and wildlife in the park. Staying in one of just three Luxury en-suite Meru tents which make up Mayukuyuku Camp on a simply beautiful spot on the Kafue river, this is a really unique place to stay.
Leave behind preconceptions or comparisons with more commercially motivated safari camps and get to know the bush and the people who live close to the park. Camp is on the Southern edge of the Northern sector of the park, situated between the lightly wooded tree line and the Kafue riverbank. Large shady trees and the views both upstream and downstream are magnificent. The Kafue river narrows through rapids and opens to a wide stretch of river edged with grassy banks and pools which draw game into view. It is an ideal location to access both the North and South Kafue National Park.

Camp has an open sided dining room / bar, where the dining table can be set up in any nice shady spot. There is a small kitchen from where the trained cooks create some brilliant and imaginative meals from local produce and also where the bar fridge resides.
The cats are here too, Lions are often encountered as are Leopard and both have been known to spend evenings in camp. There are good numbers of Elephant, Roan, Sable, Bush Buck, Kudu and of course, Hippo. Just a brief look out across the river from camp will produce many bird sightings and quite possibly Otters.

Activities during your safari include morning, late afternoon / night drives. Two to three hour walking safaris with a guide and armed scout, these give you the opportunity to get closer to nature, and concentrate on both fauna and flora. Night drives open up to a whole realm of nocturnal fauna. With over 45 mammal species recorded in the Kafue even regular safari goers can find wildlife that is new to them - Aardvark, Wild Dog, Pangolin to name but a few.

Birdwatching is excellent here with around 450 different birds recorded. Mayukuyuku has a 9 seater boat which explores the banks of the river and have almost daily sightings of Leopard from the boat.
