Busanga Safaris Ltd is a privately owned specialist Safari company . We have been successfully arranging safaris for clients since 1999 and have enjoyed a steady growth in our safari activities and diversification of our destinations. Our main criterion when choosing a safari destination is the wildlife which we will encounter. The camps that we offer were selected because they appealed to us when we stayed there as guests or friends and because they offer good guides with extensive local knowledge. We really care that our clients have an outstanding safari that normally results in them returning for future expeditions. As testament to this we arrange around half of our safaris for repeat clients, or through personal recommendations, in addition to new clients who come to us through our website or from advertising in publications such as BBC Wildlife magazine.
In addition to the various pre arranged safari destinations and itineraries that we offer we can also arrange safaris that are tailored to your requirements. Just let us know what you have in mind and your budget and we will come back to you with some suitable itineraries.
Meet the Team:
Tony McKeith - Founder- safari consultant / tour guide. Tony will arrange your booking and help to plan the best itinerary to suit you. Always available to answer any questions relating to your safari and especially happy to talk endlessly about the wildlife you are likely to see or may wish to encounter. Tony leads several set date escorted safaris during the season and is available to escort you on your safari to take the thinking out of the trip. Tony is planning to offer driving safaris around Zambia in 2010 for small groups or adventurous families. 2009 saw Tony building and working as the resident manager at Island Bush Camp in Zambia's Luangwa Valley. Alongside escorting Busanga clients he found time to visit Botswana's Okavango Delta, which has resulted in some great safari ideas for 2010.
Clare Gibbs - Co Founder - Company Secretary. Clare provides the administrative skills that ensure your booking confirmations and invoices are always accurate and dispatched promptly! Clare has a great deal of travel experience gained from many years in the airline industry and is also a very skilled wildlife artist. Clare also instigated Busanga safaris' newest winter project where we invite our clients old and new stay with us on birding and nature weekends at our little village house in a beautiful Spanish valley where Golden Eagles soar and walks in the winter sun are fueled with great local food.
Tyrone McKeith (Magoo) BSc (Hons) Wildlife conservation – safari consultant / tour guide. Will often be your first point of contact with Busanga Safaris. Having gained a Wildlife Conservation & Management degree at the world renowned Durrell Institute at the University of Kent, Tyrone was keen to have some time off, but life is seldom that easy and so we compromised and now Tyrone can be found managing a small bush camp in Zambia and when not in the bush, he’s back in the office and always happy to describe the camps and wildlife to you in greater detail. Tyrone is a great hit with our clients for his enthusiastic and poor sense of humor. Tyrone has worked in and visited all of Zambia's key areas and also scouted around in Malawi.
Doug Macdonald is a qualified professional safari guide who lives in Zimbabwe with his wife and two sons and has been in the safari industry since 1994. Doug did his first canoe trip down the Zambezi River at the age of 12. After getting a college degree in Hotel and Catering Management he achieved his Professional Guides License in 1998. We have joined up with Doug to create some new safari ideas to visit Zimbabwe the sleeping giant of safari. We strongly feel that now is the time to begin to offer Zimbabwean safaris to support and promote the great wildlife that still very much exists in Zim. Doug has travelled and guided extensively in Zimbabwe and through many countries in Africa specialising in photographic and adventure safaris. Doug has a very easy going manner and finds great pleasure in passing on his knowledge and understanding of his environment to his guests to make your safari as interesting and exciting as possible.
As well as Zimbabwe, Doug will also be guiding for us on set date departures to Zambia's Luangwa Valley and the Lower Zambezi in 2010.
Jules Sykes - Jules has been arranging and leading birding and wildlife journeys across Europe for many years with his trademark enthusiasum and good humour. Jules and Busanga have joined forces for 2010 to offer our clients the very rare chance to seek out Iberian Wolf and Lynix in Spain on short break wildlife journey's and birding trips. Jules will also be guiding on our safaris' for clients who want a safari with more of a 'Birding' emphasis.
Pete cooper - Photographic guide and Tiger expert. Pete spent the first twenty years of his working life in Finance and Management. Inspired by his first trip to Tanzania he began to combine a lifelong appreciation of wildlife with photography. In early 2005 during a safari to India he was accompanied by the BBC and filmed for a documentary that was screened as part of the Inside Out Series on BBC One in September 2005. He now spends many months each year studying Tigers in India and runs a series of tours there to support both the wildlife and local communities. We are over the moon to be working with Pete who will be guiding on a selection of wildlife tours in India & Sri lanka in 2010.
Grant Atkinson - We first encountered Grant in Botswana where he is a guide for Wilderness Safaris. Apart from being a thoroughly nice chap, he is an excellent professional guide with outstanding wildlife skill and knowledge and just to rub it in he is also one of the best wildlife photographers that we have come across. Apart from being able to use Grant's guiding skills on some of our Botswana safaris we have also decided to offer for sale a selection of Grant's unique high quality wildlife photographs. Details can be found by clicking on the 'Wildlife Moments' links.
