Northern Botswana is all about contrasting ecosystems: different scenery, activities, vegetation and the mammals and birds these ecosystems support. This 6-night package
allows you to experience the best of two extremes. Kalahari Plains Camp is the perfect location to explore the remoteness of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. You will be awestruck as you learn how animals survive in this harsh landscape. After Kalahari Plains, head to Banoka Bush Camp where you will be able to contrast this experience with the oasis that is the Okavango Delta.

3 nights Kalahari Plains Camp
Kalahari Plains Camp is situated in a remote part of the diverse and productive Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) and offers some
of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa. Located in the Kalahari Desert biome in the central part of Botswana, this reserve is the largest
conservation area in this country and at 5 million hectares (12 million acres), one of the largest in the world.
The camp is beautifully situated on an immense pan just 20km from Deception Valley and comprises 10 en-suite canvas units with a sleep-out
above each one from which to enjoy the night skies. The main area with lounge, dining area and central bar also has a separate swimming pool and deck area.
The tents and main area are all raised off the ground to catch the breeze and take in the sweeping, spacious views across the Kalahari.
Solar power provides electricity and hot water, and the innovative insulated canvas walls and roof keep the temperatures inside the units comfortable.
Thanks to the diversity of habitats, healthy game populations move through the area and are present to a greater or lesser degree all year long. Ppan systems and fossil riverbeds and plains game such as springbok, gemsbok and wildebeest converge in their hundreds and thousands here to feed. This of course attracts predators such as lion and cheetah; in fact the abundance of game at this time of the year also leads to thrilling lion and cheetah hunts to be seen.
Guided game drives unlock the fascinating wildlife treasures found in this wonderful area with excellent cheetah viewing a regular feature. San Bushman experiences provide insights into the unique culture of this fascinating people.

 • Diverse desert-adapted wildlife: springbok, oryx, red hartebeest and steenbok.

 • Predator viewing: lion, cheetah, black-backed jackal and honey badger.

 • Authentic Bushman experience.

• Sleep-out platforms under the stars.

• Game drives and cultural walks.

3 nights Banoka Bush Camp
Banoka Bush Camp, opening in August 2010, will comprise 10 tented units and be located in the Khwai Concession, one of the most diverse areas in northern Botswana, which seldom disappoints when it comes to producing extraordinary wildlife experiences. The life source for this area is the Khwai River – the northernmost “finger” of the Okavango Delta alluvial fan. The camp is named in honour of the River San, or Banoka, ancestors of the Khoi and the earliest settlers of the Okavango Delta.
The narrow Khwai Channel is home to large mammals such as hippo and crocodile with buffalo and red lechwe grazing along the fringe. Elusive roan antelope often come to the river to drink. Mopane woodland and permanent water attract large numbers of elephants to the area. Larger predators include lion, wild dog and spotted hyaena and birdlife found here is just as varied thanks to the wide array of habitats. Some 450 bird species can be seen in the area. Early morning and afternoon game drives in open 4X4 vehicles explore this area – one of the most remote and unspoilt parts of Africa. Guided game drives will explore the Khwai Concession and adjoining Moremi Game Reserve with nature walks also possible. Mokoro excursions float down secretive channels to provide that classic Delta experience. There is leisure time back at camp over the quieter midday period.

• Diverse savannah and wetland wildlife: elephant, hippo, buffalo, lechwe, impala, plains zebra and giraffe.

• Predator sightings: lion, spotted hyaena and leopard.

 • Sleep-out hides at waterholes in mopane woodland.

• Game drives, mokoro trips and walks.
