Lewa Safari, Masai Camel Treck & Lamu Island

12 nights - $6569 pp

We appreciate that a safari is also a holiday and have looked for some time for a place on the coast that we could combine with our wildlife safaris at Lewa, we really wanted something that would appeal to our clients. We have created a safari and beach package combining an un paralleled wildlife safari combined with a relaxing break at a wonderfully relaxed lodge on Lamu island, off the main tourist track which offers great activities and a chance to see Dolphins.

4 nights at Lewa Safari Camp / 2 night walking safari in the land to the north known as the Frontier district, where you will stay in fly camps at night with bucket showers hung from the trees and meals cooked on open fires before heading to Kizingo on Lamu island for 5 nights. The lodge is situated at one end of a spectacular 12-kilometre beach that stretches from Kizingo to the village of Shela. Kizingo has just eight beautifully appointed Banda's (thatched cottages), set well apart from each other. In the early morning you can enjoy tea in bed and watch fishing dhows tack south to Malindi. Ending with a night in the 4* Fairview hotel Nairobi.

A suggested Itinerary:

Fly Heathrow to Nairobi on a night flight to arrive early a.m. next day. You will be met and transferred to Nairobi Wilson and take a flight directly to Lewa's own air strip, where you will be met and driven to Lewa safari camp, you can expect to see game immediately. The next four days spent exploring the Lewa Conservancy and its wildlife on day and night time game drives, early morning bush walks and if you wish a horse back safari amongst the wildlife or maybe a day in the bush with a picnic lunch. This is not a regimented safari and your guides will do their best to work to your preferences, and you will have the chance to visit some of the Lewa community projects supported by the Conservancy as well as Lion tracking, wildlife relocations or related activities that may happen whilst you are there.

4 nights at Lewa Safari with two nights either on a Camel Camping Safari (or two nights at Il Ngwesi Maasai community lodge), where the sheer experience of walking camping in this environment in the company of real Maasai guides is unsurpassed.

On the morning of the 5th day you will be met at Camp by a small team of Samburu and their camel train led by a very knowledgeable guides from where you will set off on a two day (2 night) walking safari in the land to the north known as the Frontier district, where you will stay in fly camps at night with bucket showers hung from the trees and meals cooked on open fires, wildlife can be less visible on walks as it hears you approach but at night the feeling of being in the bush is quite amazing. You could alternatively stay at IL Ngwesi Maasai community lodge, the area is great and really wild, the staff are brilliant having been hand picked by the Maasai elders they have been trained by Lewa and are very striking in their red Shukas, the game here is varied with good Elephant and Leopard.

From there you will return to Lewa's strip on the 7 th day to meet an Air Kenya flight to Lamu Island, where on arrival you take a small boat to the main island to be met by the folks at Kizingo, who will settle you in for 5 nights of relaxation on the beach before flying home via Nairobi Wilson and Nairobi Intl.
