7 night / 8 day Safari.

After arriving at Vic Falls Airport you will be met and taken to  Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge which is situated on a riverine fringe of the mighty Zambezi River where Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia converge. Located 70 kilometers west of Victoria Falls, Imbabala offers the chance to unwind but also some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching in the region, in the seclusion of a private National Parks concession. The 5,000 Acre (2,023 Ha) concession has 14 kilometers of private Zambezi river frontage and borders the Chobe Forest Reserve, which is renowned for its massive Elephant population.

The Imbabala main lodge is a charming thatched structure, consisting of a lounge. A swimming pool and al fresco eating area nestle under ancient trees. There are no fences to prevent animal movement, so expect to see game and wonderful birdlife along the river bank as well as in and around the Lodge. With exclusive accommodation for only 18 guests in 8 individual stone and thatch lodges with en-suite facilities, each has a spacious verandas opening onto sweeping views of the Zambezi River.

During your stay here you will enjoy morning, afternoon and evening game drives or mix this up with river cruises. You will also be taken on a full day trip into the Chobe National Park which is one of Botswana’s most renowned National Parks with extraordinary densities of wildlife especially elephants.
Added to this you will also be given a tour of the famous Victoria Falls themselves and you will be able to admire this breathtaking spectacle of nature.

From Imbabala you will be taken on a road transfer that will take you through some very rural areas and beautiful scenery of this corner of Zimbabwe ending up at the exclusive Somalisa Camp which is in one of the most productive game viewing areas of the huge Hwange National Park and can accommodate only 12 guests. The camp is situated on an “island of acacia trees” in a fantastic grassland area that gives you beautiful views in this very natural setting. The accommodation is all tented with bathrooms en suite and has a central dining area with lounge and swimming pool although the pool is more used by the elephants than the guests.

Your game viewing will be in open safari vehicles on morning or afternoon and also night drives and you will have the opportunity to do walks with your guide and armed ranger.

The game viewing experience here is superb you can expect to have wildlife very close to your accommodation, there is tremendous variety of both animals and birds so you will always have something different to look at.

The safari ends with a road transfer back to the Victoria Falls Airport for your onward connections.

Seasons

There are three different season available to you for this safari.

Green Season – December – March

This is the rain season for this area of Africa so you will find the density of wildlife wont be as great but the variety remains but you will see Africa as not many do see it with nice green expanses of food with lots of baby animals and birds in breeding plumages. It is the most beautiful time to see the African bush.

Early Season – April – June and November

This time of the year is the transition from wet to dry as waterholes start drying and the game has to start congregating at permanent sources of water or if you get lucky you might catch the very first rains right at the end of the dry season in November which is spectacular to watch the rapid transition from dry and barren to lush. At this time the Zambezi River is in full flood so to see Victoria Falls at its highest and most awe inspiring this is the time. (April – June )

Dry Season – July – October

These are the traditional months of safari because the bush is dry and this gives good visibility and also the available sources of water are limited as is the food causing the animals to congregate in certain areas which in theory makes it easier for the safari goer to find them – not always the case though.
