Botswana Summer Encounter

Magical Botswana in the season of abundance. Explore the "petrified" river valley of Deception Valley in the Kalahari Desert where sporadic summer rains attract a plethora of wildlife; the green islands and clear waterways of the Okavango followed by the diverse and wildlife-rich Linyanti and Chobe River systems. The journey ends at the famous Victoria Falls.

Wildlife on Botswana Summer Encounter; In the Kalahari, sporadic summer rains bring plains game into the desert valleys in large numbers, followed by their predators, while the Okavango offers incredible birdlife and perhaps the rare sitatunga antelope. One may also be surprised by the presence of lion, leopard, hyaena and buffalo as they wade and swim between islands. The Linyanti and Chobe have diverse and prolific wildlife: Roan and sable antelope are often seen, plains game and of course, lion and leopard – with the endangered wild dog as a spectacular bonus.

Exceptionally diverse range of activities: game drives, walks, a full-day excursion with lunch, mokoro and motorboat excursions and a boat cruise. Exclusive access to the wilderness areas of the Okavango Delta, Linyanti Chobe and Victoria Falls.
Old-style serviced camping as well as accommodation in luxury camps. Simply a perfect Botswana safari.

Situated in the centre of southern Africa and more than 600 kilometres (373 miles) from the nearest ocean, Botswana is surrounded by Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe as its immediate neighbours. With the exception of the eastern part of the country, where the great majority of the Batswana people live and where the summer rainfall is slightly higher, the majority of Botswana is desert. Botswana’s most renowned conservation area is undoubtedly the Okavango Delta – a green and blue wetland rightly considered Africa’s most incredible wildlife sanctuary and one of the largest inland delta systems in the world – 16 000 km² (6 000 sq. miles) of verdant channels, lagoons, swamps and islands. This dynamic waterworld contrasts with the cathedral mopane woodlands of the Linyanti and Selinda region to the north of the Delta, while to the south lies the Kalahari Desert. This desert is rarely lifeless and harbours legendary destinations such as Deception Valley in the Central Kalahari.
