Chibembe Mobile Trail Safari

During these exciting safaris Tyrone will be taking care of the logistics of the mobile trail and ensuring the camps are comfortable and camp runs smoothly. Phil will be your guide, sharing his knowledge of the Kafue, and aims to show you as much wildlife as possible over the course of the ten days!

Utilizing private camp locations for the trail you can be assured that we will hardly see another soul, with more chance of finding lions on our forays into the bush than people. We stay at 3 different and interesting areas, exploring the bush on gentle walking safaris, by open game drive vehicle and by boat. After exciting days in the bush we return to camp for an aperitif and great meals prepared by our skilled chef and enjoyed by the campfire under the stars. Then to bed, where the sounds of the bush, the leopard’s cough or the Scops Owl’s eerie call drift through the walls of your tent.

Our safaris begin in Lusaka where your guide will meet you in the morning before heading to the Kafue, a journey taking around 4 hours to reach the site of the first camp, right in the heart of the largest park in Zambia. The first 3 days of the trail will be spent exploring the Luansanza and Shishamba tributaries, where some of the Kafue’s best wildlife viewing can be found. The next 3 days see us uproot the mobile tented camp and head north, towards the famed Moshi area, the site of an old camp, steeped in history, an area home to the largest Lion prides in the park. During our 3 nights at Moshi we will visit the famed Busanga Plains, often referred to as the Jewel in the Crown of the Kafue; this vast open expanse of grassland is home to antelope species such as wildebeest, oribi, lechwe and roan, to name but a few. The last 3 nights are spent at the home of Jeffery & McKeith Safaris, Musekese Camp. Situated on the banks of the shimmering Kafue River, from Musekese we will explore on foot, by vehicle and by boat, introducing our guests to all that this previously unexplored area of the park has to offer. Elephant are commonplace here, with a great chance to view leopard, even along the banks of the river from our safari boat. On the morning of the 10th day we head back to Lusaka where we bid you farewell!

The mobile camp set-up:

Our mobile camp consists of fully furnished classic safari dome tents, with comfortable beds. Bathrooms are traditional safari style, open air and a short hop from the tents. As it is a mobile camp, ablutions are shared, the long drop loos and bucket showers are carefully placed to give you all the safety and privacy that you need. Musekese Camp, where we stay for a portion of this safari, is en-suite however.
